José María López de Letona is a founding partner and has been President of the board of Invexcel since 2010. He is also Vice President of the Board of Directors of Círculo de Empresarios (a think-tank and entrepreneur’s association in Spain) and member of the Board of Directors of Puerto Punta Portals, S.A.
He has dedicated more than 30 years of his career to Venture Capital and Private Equity, as well as to Wealth Management in Europe and the US. At the end of the 80s, he led the venture capital activity of the Bemberg Group in Spain, and was part of its investment committee for Southern Europe. In 1992 he founded Excel Partners together with N.M. Rothschild & Sons, and raised three private equity funds by 2006. He currently chairs Invexcel, dedicating himself to asset management, investments in club deals, advising private equity funds, in addition to publishing economic and political articles in the national media.
He has been a member and/or advisor on more than 30 boards of directors or advisory boards in different sectors (recently Teka Industrial, Agbar and Puerto Portals), has chaired the Spanish Venture Capital Association (ASCRI, its acronym in Spanish), and has been part of the Board of Directors of the European Venture Capital Association (EVCA).
